Fun Friday!-Auntie B's and a party

In CategoryMy Life, parenting
BySandy

This week has been chaotic! We stuck with Fun Friday though...we went to my Auntie B's for a fun craft! She used to do these with me and my sisters when we were little, she's a blast! We went over and I played with Ila (who Auntie was babysitting) while Scotty and Uncle L made a train out of candy! He had a blast. After they finished the train we had lunch, the kids ate cupcakes (as soon as I find my cable, I'm pulling pictures off to share...wordless wednesday maybe?). Then we played for a little bit, Scotty and Uncle L went to the basement to "exercise". They have TONS of exercise equipment downstairs. She's a bit of a QVC shopaholic!

After Auntie's we drove Ila back home...I was supposed to clean at my sisters, but since we had Ila at Auntie B's so long, she got a TON done and no longer needed me to clean. I think she heard on the phone when I called in the am how tired I already was! So Scotty and I dropped off Ila and headed home to take a nap before the birthday party. We crashed for 1.5 hours!

THEN came the chaotic birthday party! Hubby came with and wasn't feeling very well shortly after we got there, so we ended up leaving after an hour or so...but Scotty had helped me pack his overnight bag and stayed the night! He was playing with all the other kids, I hear he helped open presents AND ate cake by the handful with Ila! All in all, a good fun friday :)

Next week we'll be doing Fun Friday on Wednesday...Scotty requested we go to KidzBounce! and they aren't open on Friday, so Wednesday it is :)

Fun Friday!

Since we've been watching Ila the last few months I've noticed Scotty's attitude leaves something to be desired. Last week we were going to go berry picking on Friday and run some errands...and he let us know that wasn't the best plan. Instead of fighting with him over it, we changed our plan to do something fun together. We went swimming. He had a blast, I had fun...it made me think, maybe we should set aside a day each week (Fridays) that we do at least one fun thing together. Watching Ila keeps us busy, it's a little stressful at times because I'm trying to keep up with two of them and Scotty can really push my buttons when he's not getting my attention. So...this is week 2 of "Fun Friday" with Scotty.

The plan: Pick some blackberries in the backyard and have him help me make some freezer jam. Make some cookies (we're completely out!) and POSSIBLY do some painting. Hopefully this helps him and we get our one-on-one time with no distractions!

This is me...with my head in the sand

In CategoryBlogging, My Life

Do you ever get so busy that you shut down? I thought I'd be used to the busier schedule and watching Ila by now...but so far? Not at all. I keep trying to schedule playdates, keep the house clean and stay on top of all my errands. Not doing so great at all that...then add in blogging? I try to read the blogs I follow, I try to comment...I try to enter giveaways. I start...then find myself on Facebook playing Bubble Speed. I zone out. Before I know it, an hour has passed and I've accomplished nothing.

So...any suggestions from you moms who have it all together? I write things down like crazy, I have lists all over the place...I just lose the motivation to get things done! It doesn't help that I start to think I have it all together and something new gets thrown in there for me to juggle! I thought by now I'd be doing more with this blog...instead I tend to bury my head in the sand. I'd like to get on a schedule and post more, but when I sit down to do it I can't focus or come up with much to write about!

Zaycon Foods

Have you heard of Zaycon Foods yet? If not, follow the link and check them out. I have absolutely loved every single thing I've gotten from them. I've ordered chicken twice now (best chicken ever!) and beef once...I think they look and taste better than anything you can buy in a store. I love that everything is fresher than in the store. You buy in bulk which is handy for me...I have an extra freezer in the garage just for this reason! I like to stock up so I don't need to shop as often :)

Last year I also picked up some of their apples. I made so much applesauce, we're still eating it! Recently I picked up a bunch of peaches and canned those as well. I plan to snap up even more of their peaches and apples next time they're available! I like stocking up my shelves for the winter when we don't have as much yummy produce available.

I received an email today that their bacon event starts tomorrow...I'm so excited! I haven't tried their bacon yet, but I've heard wonderful things. I'm now trying to find someone to split my order with though...there is no way we'll eat 30 lbs of bacon in a timely manner! Which means hopefully I'll get my sisters or mom turned onto the convenience and deliciousness of Zaycon Foods! So if you haven't checked them out, do so! It's worth the initial effort of picking up the product and processing it yourself...and in my opinion it's healthier than the stuff they have in the stores!

Wait a minute...what just happened?

In CategoryMy Life, parenting

I've been looking forward to my two days off all week...especially after the horrid day with Ila on Wednesday. Yesterday went well enough. It was our 7 year anniversary. We had a lazy day. Scotty and I were both exhausted and a little cranky the first half of the day. I blame it on the previous day (Ila) being super sucky. The grocery store was a nightmare...there's a reason I drive 20 minutes into the next town, people are much nicer and polite. Here? Not so much. So in the middle of the store (when I'm already a mess because I hate stepping out of my comfort zone AND being in the store when it's busy...I seriously panic) my phone won't stop ringing. I ignore it because I don't want to deal with it in the store. I listen to messages. One is from my sister warning me the other twin's sister in law will be calling. Crap.

Why was the sister in law calling you ask? To ask me to babysit for a few hours this morning. I can't say no. This is the sister in law that has been fighting cancer since pregnant with her youngest...who is now around 18 months I think? *sigh* I called her bag and we played phone tag all afternoon, then confirmed that Scotty and I will be there this morning at 9:30 to watch the girls for a few hours while mom goes to an appointment. Seriously, three kids? Is this going to end well? I'm just hoping Scotty keeps them happy enough...I'll have no trouble with the older one (T). It's the 18 month old (D) that I'm worried about...she's not as used to me as T is!

Wish me luck...it's going to be an interesting morning...After that? To the library and possibly Goodwill to see if I can snag some more canning jars for my next batch of fruit. So much for a lazy day, huh?

And let this be a lesson to you. If you ask me for a favor? I'll probably say yes. And then stress about it all night and get about 2 hours of sleep while wishing I'd said no.

Happy Anniversary to us!

In CategoryMy Life
BySandy

7 years ago today I married my best friend! Alright, that sounds cheesy to me, but it's true. It's been an amazing 7 years. We've had some good times (Scotty!) and more bad (selling the house, laid off on wedding day, etc!) Through all of it we've stuck together, we never go to bed mad at each other. We see each other WAY too much. It's what happens when he works from home! I love my husband with all my heart and count myself lucky to have found him...even when he's driving me nuts :)

Happy 7th Anniversary Scott!

Yesterday was horrible!

So here's to hoping tomorrw is better. Today started out with a cranky Scotty. Fun! These are usually okay when it's just the 2 of us, he snaps out of it pretty fast. Unfortunately, today we're watching Ila.

cranky Scotty+teething and cranky Ila=super cranky mom needing some chocolate

I've decided I need to create an emergency stash at my sisters house now. Apparently Ila slept very little Tuesday night and kept everyone up. I'm thinking "alright, this should mean she's super tired and will take her naps!". Nope. I forgot how this worked...it means she's going to be a total pill and refuse to take naps. Crap. First nap lasted maybe 45 minutes...she didn't want to eat much. Set her loose to play with Scotty and grabbed her as soon as she started rubbing her eyes. Think she went to sleep? No. She sat in her crib and screamed for about 20 minutes before I caved. I brought her out and shoveled some food in her mouth, let her play for a few and then tried to put her down when I saw some eye rubbing. Again, no sleep, just screaming.

Why do I think we want at least one more baby? Do I REALLY want to deal with this again with my own? Scotty was colicky and made life miserable for all of us for at least the first 6 months...then the battle of the wills started. With my luck, I'm going to get another Scotty. I may need to rethink this.

And to top it all off? Scotty pushed buttons all day. At one point, I took his shirt. He laughed when I told him I was going to start taking things away if he kept pushing. He has so many toys that he didn't care about those, so I took his shirt. Not my best moment, but he got the point and sat still long enough to talk to me.

*Ha! I originally wrote this post planning to publish next day...then decided to just publish it day of. JUST realized I never changed the title. Woops.
