Some upcoming projects...

I've got a LONG list I'm sure I'll be adding to...right now at the top?

Our main bathroom...right now it looks like this:

I'm in the middle of doing this bathroom right now...I've painted it and keep coming up with brilliant and fun accent ideas...can't wait to finish it and share :)

Another ongoing project right now is a dresser. It's been in our garage since we moved in. We FINALLY emptied it and were planning to give it away on Craigslist. After pulling it out in the light so we could see it, we decided to try to refinish it. It's a nice solid wood dresser, dovetail joints...so much promise! I've started sanding it, but there's a ways to go before it's ready to enter the house!

And last but not least at the top of the list...Scotty's room! We're aiming for an outerspace theme. The hubby is a science nerd and he already has Scotty talking about electrons, gears, motors, etc. He's not even four yet! Anyway, I have lots of ideas for his room and hope it turns out as great as I think it can!

These will keep me busy for a while :) I also have a few side projects, but we'll see if I actually get around to them! I'm going to attempt to take pictures as I go...I just have to remember to do it!

Good news!

A couple of weeks ago we had our landlord over to take a peek at our deck (that has been rotting since we moved in, there is a BIG hole in it! Again, since we moved in). We got the go ahead to tackle the job ourselves and replace the rotten boards. Excited to get THAT project done! Not so excited to do it. While he was here we signed a lease for another year...at which point he brought up us possibly buying it in a year or two! Not what we had planned on, but after talking it over we've decided we'll do it as long as an inspection doesn't bring any bad news and the price is right. Our landlord would carry the note, so that's another plus, we won't need to do a bank loan.

What does this mean? I'm in a better mood. Scott noticed it and commented the other day. Why am I in a better mood? We're no longer at a temporary place. I can start making plans, organizing, changing furniture and making the space work for us for the long term. We're in the best school district, our neighbors have learned to leave us alone (more or less). I'm happy. We're still planning on the acreage when we can...probably after the kids are grown unless we completely outgrow this house. We're making plans and lists. I love it!

So yay for good news :) I'm going to try to start posting some projects as I do them...I just need to remember to take pictures! On the immediate list is painting and finishing Scotty's bedroom and our main bathroom. Both are in the process now. I'm also sanding and refinishing a dresser...hopefully that one turns out! If not? I'm at least enjoying doing it :)

I just love these two together. Scotty absolutely LOVES when we get to babysit cousin. We went to the mall a week or so ago and he didn't want to go without her, so we went and picked her up and she went and played in the play area with us. Fun!

Birthday Cake ideas!

In CategoryUncategorized
BySandy

Okay, ideas is a bit misleading...I really have one idea. I THINK we're going to run with it. I've made my 3 sisters promise to help me since I'm not very artistic and they all kick butt. So here's the plan:

We'll do a small cake with a frog, something like this:

Then we'll do cupcakes that look something like this (I think the first pic is the cutest):

Scotty was adamant he wanted his own cake, hence the separate small cake. I love cupcakes because it's so much easier to do and everyone can grab their own! I will finally be able to open my Wilton cupcake stand I won last year too! So excited...now I just need to get everything done before his birthday without freaking out! I think this week we'll pop over to Michaels to take a look at their bakeware, there's a sale going on!

For those of you experienced with cake decorating, any suggestions? We're even going to attempt to fill the cupcakes with fruit filling of some sort...should be interesting :) If I remember, I'm totally going to take pictures and post the before and after pics!

Meet Aovalb (pronounced A-oval-bee). Scotty and the hubby like to blow up balloons and draw faces on them. This masterpiece is all Scotty's. He drew the face AND named it Aovalb (the name is written on the other side of the balloon). Should I be worried that he treats Aovalb like a real person???

I'm back!

Have you noticed I've been gone? I don't really have much to report on...hence the quiet here on the blog. It's been crazy busy the last two weeks. My Auntie had a birthday Mid-April and we finally celebrated that on the 2nd...my birthday was the 4th, so I had a bunch going on with various family members and THEN we had Mother's Day. My boys are the best, can I just say that? Absolute best. Scott did a really neat slide show of Scotty growing up for me and then they let me sleep in, offered to make me breakfast and then let me lay in bed and read all day. BEST MOTHER'S DAY EVER!

Hopefully now that things have settled down a bit I don't fall into a slump again...it's cyclical, have you noticed? I have kick butt periods where I have a bunch to say and manage to schedule posts for multiple days at a time. Then I fall into a slump and just hide in my bedroom with a book or run errands all week. I'm exciting, huh?

I'm sad to say the craziness will probably begin in a week or so...I'm trying to hold myself back a bit, but I think I have the dates for our next cabin trip planned. Crossing my fingers I don't go nuts like I usually do. I'm hoping it'll be easier since I'm only packing for Scotty and I. No surprises. If it doesn't get packed, it's my fault. Easy, right? Of course, then I have to hope that Scotty and I get along the whole time we're there...either way, can't wait till our cabin trip in a few weeks! I'm aiming for after Memorial day, first week in June. After that, I predict the craziness of planning Scotty's birthday party will begin AND all the wedding festivities for my little sis!

I'm back! We went to the zoo with my dad yesterday to celebrate my birthday late (it was May 4th) and Scotty had SO MUCH FUN! I hadn't been to this specific zoo since I was in grade school, so I had a blast too. My favorite? The Polar Bears! So fun to watch!
