Controlling much?

In CategoryMy Life
BySandy

My husband claims I'm a bit of a control freak...and I agree with him. I had such a hard time getting ready for this cabin trip. He had to talk me down MANY times. It doesn't help that I was trying to keep costs down and plan meals so I could bring our food with us. Or that my dad's girlfriend (who is going with us) doesn't seem to understand my dietary restrictions. Yes, just one little bit of ice cream is a big deal. Yes, just one little bit of chocolate candy is a big deal.

Anyway, that made me freak out even more. I did a last minute trip to Costco so I could bring the majority of my food with me. Then I started freaking out about the car and packing. My dad's girlfriend is driving...she overpacks. She packs more than I pack for Scotty and I . I love her to death, but she packs like my dad. We're only going to be there 3 days! Anyway, I talked myself into thinking it was a great idea to go and pickup the car so I could pack OUR stuff first and she could just add hers when she gets here. Scott talked me out of it. Yay him.

I know we'll fit what we need in there SOMEHOW...I'm just hoping I don't have to leave anything important behind. And that the bug up my bum dies so I can enjoy myself. Either way, I'm very much looking forward to my June trip with just Scotty and I. I'll be packing for just us, using our car and going by our schedule. It's going to be awesome. In the meantime, I'm thanking my lucky stars I'm over my PMS (that was last week when I was freaking out about the car and space issues A LOT). Here's to hoping I don't have any more issues crop up while on vacation! And hopefully the weather forecast is wrong. Cloudy and rain the day we get there, rain the next 3 days...then a week of sunshine after we head home. Nice.

Scotty Goes Fishing

Fun, right? On Saturday we had cousin T's 3rd birthday party. It was at a trout farm! We were told that each child would get to catch one fish for free. So fun! Scotty's never been fishing, so I was excited to see what he thought about it. The hubby's family is very outdoorsy...my grandpa was a big fisherman too, my dad not at all.

Unfortunately I was feeling a little worn out and stayed home and finished packing for the cabin and resting when I could while the boys went to the party. Scotty came home and told me ALL about it. He had so much fun. He caught the biggest fish and won a prize! They sent the fish home with Uncle B so he could smoke it when he smokes the trout they caught. Scotty had a blast wandering and watching all the fish, playing in the water. The rain even held off for a little bit! I'm so glad he had fun...and we have pictures of his first fishing trip. Grandpa P helped him bait the hook and they caught absolutely nothing...as soon as dad helped Scotty? They caught their fish!

Feeling a wee bit guilty...

but super productive. I bailed on the nephew's 3rd birthday party today. Evil, right? BUT...I'm almost done packing for the cabin tomorrow. And cooking. I've made popcorn balls, rice pudding, scrubbed the kitchen. It's amazing how much you can get done when Scotty isn't underfoot!

I guess I'll just have to deal with feeling guilty and like a horrible Auntie...eh, at least I'm pretty much packed and ready to go. Now all I need to do is get the cooler packed, Scotty and I dressed and fed all before 7:30 tomorrow...the time we are planning to leave to catch the ferry! Can't wait :)

We're pregnant!

April Fools! Ha. Okay, not that funny, but there's a story here. Since I was 16 years old I've called my mom every single year and told her I was pregnant. Ridiculous that she believed me the first 3 yrs since I wasn't even dating at the time...Anyway, she falls for it EVERY year. Unfortunately we're still not really talking much right now, so it'll be the first time in 10 years I don't get to play this one on her! So...I played it on you instead :)

Thank you...and you're welcome :) Next up? Grams. She'll get a kick out of it...or forget that it was an April Fool's joke and tell everyone I am for real. Maybe not the best plan...
