Busy busy bee!

It's been a hectic and busy week! I'm a planner. It's ridiculous how early I start planning. I have had a huge list going in Word for our upcoming cabin trip for over a month. My husband laughs at me. HOWEVER...I don't get up there often and realize I forgot something super important.

This week has been busy with shopping trips (Target and Safeway, skipped Costco this week). Wednesday was a trip to my sisters so she could cut Scotty's hair, another trip to the barber to get Scott's hair cut. Saturday is my nephew's 3rd birthday party, so last week Scotty and I spent a bit of time at Target and picked out gifts for both cousin T and Cousin Syd who is having her party the next weekend. It's been busy!

Thankfully, we're almost at the end of the wait...I will soon be able to answer "YES!" when Scotty asks if we're going to the cabin now? It's a little sad when he races after you when you take the garbage out because he thinks we're leaving...he reminds me of our old dogs! Cody would sit in front of the door and freak out as I packed the car. We NEVER left them behind, just like I will never leave Scotty behind when we go to the cabin! Maybe he'll figure that out, the dogs never did :)

My husband is the best!

Guess what I did today? I went to Target and Safeway...by myself! Hubby offered to watch Scotty while I was gone. I spent an hour and a half total away from the house. I wandered the aisles. Read ingredients on packages without having to tell a little person to stop running in the aisles. Or stop grabbing things off the shelves. No we can't get that. It was awesome. In return for my awesome and much needed alone time? I bought them each a snack pie. I'm awesome too :)

Spring Cleaning!

In CategoryMy Life
BySandy

I've been on a spring kick for the last week or so. We had some BEAUTIFUL sunny weather. I opened all the doors and windows to air out the house...and froze as soon as I slowed down enough to sit still! BUT? The house isn't stuffy and is relatively clean. I'm still working on it. I've rearranged the front room, dining room and our bedroom. Next? Scotty's room and the office.

Scotty and I took a trip to Target on Thursday to pickup a cleaning bucket and some supplies for our cabin trip. I like to scrub and polish when I'm up there, seems like I'm the only one and I only get up there a couple times a year! I got home unpacked all my Target bags (also purchased some birthday gifts...a Justin Bieber doll for my 6 yr old niece, am I awesome or what?) Thursday evening/night I scrubbed the bathrooms with my new cleaning supplies. I love it! Toilets are scrubbed cleaner than I've ever seen them, the mirrors are nice and clean and the counters gleam! Bring on spring, I'm ready :)

Crawling out of my shell

In CategoryMy Life
BySandy

I'm not the most outgoing person. It's not a secret. I prefer to keep my own company, I like staying at home vs going out to supper or to a movie. Part of it is a control thing, I prefer to make my own food so I know exactly what's in it. At the movies I always talk and miss important parts. I'm not a huge fan of games, I hate losing so I just don't play them. Unless it's with my hubby or my 3.75 yr old. And I'm cheap. I'm super cheap. I hate spending money. It's been years since we've had extra to spend. Sometimes we'll save it up so we can do something fun that we don't usually do (last night we had chinese food for supper!)

Where am I going with this? I'm getting better. Last year Scotty and I went to some park playdates where we knew absolutely no one. Scotty is so much like his dad, he can make friends with anyone and is absolutely comfortable doing so. Me? Not so much. I can do it, I'm just not always comfortable.

Well, one of Scott's friends from high school lives about 2 minutes away from us. This means he pops over every once in a while for a quick visit. He's expressed interest in game night, going out on his boat, etc. It sounds like we're actually going to do it! Scotty is nuts about him, I think him and his wife are really nice. He stopped by yesterday and called later to see if we wanted to go fishing after easter. Scotty has never been fishing, but we ARE going to a trout farm the first weekend of April for a birthday party. We went ahead and wrote it on the calendar to go out on the boat and Paul is super excited to take Scotty fishing. I think it'll be fun! And who knows? Maybe I'll get over my hatred of game night and we'll actually start socializing a bit more!

We did the volcano experiment with Scotty and he LOVED it. We didn't have a volcano, so just used a slender vase, but it worked!

Endometriosis is a pain

In CategoryUncategorized
BySandy

Seriously. Last month I gave up coffee right before my cycle started. I had very little pain and it was great. I was so excited. All I had to do was cut coffee/excess caffeine, dairy, wheat and soy out of my diet. I had it in my head I could just do this around my bad times. Then I got sick and my cycle was thrown off and started early. Crap. This month has been hell. Lots of pain and found some new lumps. Yay me!

On the bright side, I know what they are and I'm not in a panic thinking I'm dying. On the not so bright side? It hurts. Not I'm going to die hurting now, at least. I'm now on my weird diet full time. No wheat, dairy, soy or coffee anytime. I had actually given up coffee full time and never went back. I gave my coffee and creamer away and put my coffee pot away to bring back to my dad's shop for storage (where I found it!). We're also eating better. Most of my grocery budget is going to fresh fruits and veggies and healthier options. I love it! Even the boys love it. No more canned, frozen or prepared stuff for us!

So far I'm doing okay. It's an adventure, right? The thing I miss the most is bread. I have a couple of friends that are wheat free and suggested a specific kind of bread. I believe they're english muffins? I can't remember right now. I looked for them and FINALLY found them at Fred Meyer...it was somewhere around $4 for 4 muffins. Ridiculous. I don't need muffins that bad. Tomorrow Scotty and I are heading to Trader Joe's to see what they have. I'd also like some pasta.

It's going to be a learning experience, that's for sure. I'm willing to try anything to avoid surgery though! And who knows, maybe I can just tough it out for another 6 months and we can discuss having baby #2 :) Another thing I need to discuss with my doctor before it happens though! Hopefully I can just get all this taken care of AFTER baby #2. Would hate to have it taken care of and then happen again with the next c-section!

I'm back on a computer!

In CategoryMy Life
BySandy

Hubby surprised me last night...he said that we'd go out this morning and get me a new laptop since mine died last month and I've been using our server computer hooked up to our tv since then. It's my birthday/mother's day/week of Sandy gift. Yay! It's over a month early, but I'll have my computer when we go to the cabin now. He is the best. Seriously, the absolute best.

So we all jumped in the suburban this morning and headed to Fred Meyer. We're doing movie night tonight (Despicable Me) and needed some snacks. The boys stocked up on Easter candy, I grabbed some Newman-O's. I'd never heard of them, but my sister gave me some a few weeks ago. They're pretty much Oreo's but they are wheat and dairy free. Yum!

After Fred Meyer, we drove to Office Depot and spent forever there. The laptop we wanted they didn't have in stock...so they called another store and had them set one aside for us. Then gave us another option...since this computer is discontinued or something, they could sell us the model for a 10-15% discount! We said yes. Then had to wait another 20 minutes while they cleaned it off and boxed it up. I'm now back online, my email is setup and I'm in heaven.

Seriously, I have no idea WHAT I'm going to do yet, but some kind of big surprise thank you is in store for the hubby!
