tomorrow is the second day. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. I am going to be exhausted by the weekend!
I spent all day today playing catch up on the computer and just realized I never posted about yesterday! It went well. Really really well. Well, kind of really well. Sister in law told me she'd be dropping off around 7...and then called at 7:30 to say they weren't leaving until 8 or so. Why I was surprised, I don't know. This family is late EVERYWHERE. The day went well, drop off was pretty easy. He started to freak out so she gave him his bottle and then snuck out...he never even realized she left. Awesome. There's something to be said for having zillions of toys.
Our first hiccup? Meals and snacks. At our house we eat at the table and excuse ourselves when we're done. Apparently they graze. So nephew kept trying to get up from the table to go play, then come back. When I called him on it he did the "I'm going to cry" face. He stopped really quick when he realized I wasn't looking anymore. By the end of the day he was AWESOME at excusing himself when he was done and bringing his spoon to the counter.
Nap time was a bit of a mess. I told my kiddo that it was quiet time...and he freaked out. Then I realized nephew wasn't following us and told him to come on, it's time to lay down. Oh my gosh, you'd think I'd told him I was going to cover him in honey and then hit a bees nest. I left him screaming and throwing a tantrum while I got Scotty into the bathroom and done.
Then we went back and grabbed nephew and brought them to Scotty's room. Scotty wanted to lay on the mattress on the floor, so I put nephew in the bed. He whined and cried like his world was ending for a few minutes saying something, I have no idea what. I finally told him he needed to turn off the tears and use his words...and he stopped crying! He stared at me for a minute then closed his eyes. Within 10 minutes he was out. Yay! Scotty laid in there for about 20 minutes before passing out.
Scotty woke up an hour before nephew, so we cuddled and he watched Toy Story while I read my book. Nephew woke up and we ate some supper and then went outside to play with bubbles, balls, golf clubs and anything else they could find. Sister in law was over an hour late...her and my brother in law didn't get here till 6:30! Yikes.
SO...it went well, I was exhausted, Scotty was exhausted...and nephew didn't want to leave. I think this will work out well
I just need to get used to having two little kids around...three days a week is going to be tough. It's so different when they are your own!
