And...we all caught the cold

In CategoryMy Life

Bummer. My poor kid was the first one to get hit. He woke up on Sunday sounding congested and coughing. Then the hubby started feeling it. Now I'm down. Ugh. The worst part? The kidlet is feeling a little more energetic today...while the hubby and I are at the "leave me alone and let me lay in bed all day" stage. And all this on the big 3rd birthday!

So I'm giving myself permission to take a few days off to recover. Scotty is starting to perk up, I'm still pretty miserable, the hubby is the worst out of the three of us and getting a little concerned about spinal cord shock. Crap.

This is why I try to avoid sick people at all costs. It's not so bad when the kidlet and I get sick (okay, I hate it, but there isn't the risk of a rush to the ER!). When the hubby gets sick? It's horrible. He was up most of last night and I woke up this morning to him getting sick. Poor guy.

On the bright side, he's no longer having to attempt a rush to a bathroom with his canes. I never thought I'd be this happy that he finally caved and got his wheelchair! He's still in bed and we're trying to be as quiet as possible. As soon as he gets up, I get an hour or two off and I'm going to attempt to take a nap. Guess what I was doing at 2 this morning? I was taking a bath...hoping the steam would help. It didn't.

Tomorrow? We head to Costco and I'm grabbing a pack of Puff's Plus, I'm not going to be so cheap that I keep buying Costco kleenex. My poor nose is killing me. I'm done rambling now...off to enjoy my last cup of coffee and hopefully it'll make the throat feel a bit better. If we're lucky, I'll perk up enough to go outside and let the kidlet have SOME fun on his birthday!

Cardboard Boxes are the best

In CategoryMy Life
BySandy

This just makes me giggle. We had a huge birthday party, he got a ton of new toys...to add to all his old ones. Do you know what he's playing with? His fancy measuring cups, mixing bowl and rolling pin from his Auntie. When he's not playing with those? A cardboard box and a balloon. Makes me glad I didn't blow a ton of money on his gifts!

Happy 3rd Birthday!

In CategoryMy Life
BySandy

Alright, so his birthday isn't really until tomorrow, but he had a HUGE party on Saturday. And by huge? I mean about 27 people showed up (I didn't actually get a headcount, but we had 27 RSVP they were coming).

Scotty had so much fun! Yours truly was a little dumb and decided to have the party at 2 pm. You know, because having his party during "quiet time" would make it so much fun! He almost threw a tantrum while opening presents. He unwrapped one, wanted to stop and go play with it and threw himself to the floor when I said we needed to finish opening gifts. Thankfully no tears, just the covering of his face and laying there.

After we got the presents opened I don't know where he went...outside maybe? I know at some point his uncles Cort and Todd took him outside to play with his t-ball set. The weirdo put a bucket on top of it and hit it with the bat...apparently it's not t-ball, it's a dinner bell.

A few pictures from the chaos that was the birthday party...next year? We're splitting it up and doing a bunch of parties so we actually get to talk to everyone that attends!

How to create a signature

In CategoryTips & Tricks
BySandy

I have two blogs for you to check out.

I started with The Frugal Free Gal, here is her post. I started out fine and ran into problems adding it to my blog because I use WordPress.

At that point, I googled "how to add a signature to wordpress" and went to this blog:

http://lorelle.wordpress.com/2007/04/10/adding-a-signature-to-personalize-your-blog-post/

I got a wee bit confused and ended up back at my WordPress Dashboard. I went to Plugins and searched for Livesig and installed it, activated it and then went to the editor. Once at the editor, I found the "read me" txt file and realized that my LiveSig was already on my blog and in my settings :) Oops. I'm a newbie, does it show?

After realizing that, it was easy peasy. I just clicked on LiveSig in my settings and followed the directions, added my HTML from MyLiveSignature.com and hit save. And I was done!

I'll admit after seeing the comments on The Frugal Free Gal I was thinking 10 minutes tops...it took me at least 30. I'm sure if you know what you're doing it'll go quicker. At least 15 of those minutes was spent trying to figure out what the heck a plugin was and how it works.

Good luck and have fun creating a signature...I know I'm always proud when I don't have to run to the hubby and tell him I broke my blog AND learned something new!

Next time?

In CategoryMy Life
BySandy

So I've decided that next time I have a big thing going on (eg. a 3rd birthday party!) I'm going to allow myself to take a break from Blog Hops. I JUST finished going through and moderating comments. I'm all caught up, but I sucked at the blog hops this week. I'm going to try to go back through them this weekend if I can find time. If not? I'm just going to promise to do better next week!

AND...I will soon have an almost three year old in here jumping up and down yelling "IT'S MY BIRTHDAY TODAY!!!". Super excited for him. We all stayed up and watched the first Toy Story together last night after frosting cupcakes. I'm hoping the little stinker sleeps in. I KNOW he won't take a nap, so if he sleeps in it's good enough for me. I have minor cleaning left to do, otherwise I was able to get everything else done during the week. Now I just have to wait until 2...I hate the waiting when I have nothing to do!

Lots of pictures to follow, I hope. I won a new camera (can't remember if I mentioned that? Between the birthday party planning crazies and allergies, I'm a little scatterbrained!) and it takes awesome pictures! I sent the hubby out yesterday to find me a memorystick thingy for it since my old one didn't fit, I'm so excited for this birthday party! Last year the kidlet was a little young to understand it was his birthday. He's embarrassed when we sing to him, so I've told him he HAS to let everyone sing or he won't get a cupcake or to open his presents. He seems to be okay with that so far :)

Alright, I'm off to fold 4 baskets of laundry and guzzle some coffee. Have a great weekend!

Five Question Friday 6/25

In CategoryBlog Hops
BySandy

I did this bloghop last week and enjoyed it, so I'm back again this week!

Rules for 5QF: Copy and paste the following questions to your blog post. Answer them, then c'mon back and link up! If you don't have a blog, but would like to play along, feel free to leave your answers in the comments of this post, or any post along the way!

1. Do you know how to play a musical instrument?
No! I can't carry a tune to save my life, I can't follow the beat and I'm tone deaf. I can clear a room pretty quick when singing along to the radio :)
2. What is your pet peeve while driving?
I absolutely hate when people ride my bumper. Or when they don't wave when you let them in front of you.
3. Would you rather have a housekeeper or unlimited spa services?
Unlimited spa services. I wouldn't do well with a housekeeper, I'd feel the need to clean BEFORE she came over!
4. Is there a song that you hear that will take you back to the moment, like a junior high or high school dance?
Party like it's 1999. I remember hearing it over and over and over again in junior high!
5. What song best represents your life right now?
I have no idea...I'm not really up on songs, I can't think of anything that fits. I can think of some fun ones to sing along with though, does that count? I now have "Dream On" stuck in my head from Glee. Love it.
