Christmas Day with the Grover’s

On Christmas Day we headed to my Dad’s in the afternoon. It was a lot of fun, though it took a whole day to get my allergies back under control! And this time I barely even pet my cat! I swear my cat allergy has gotten worse the past few years. Anyway, Scotty had a blast playing with everyone. It must be great being the only kid, therefore the center of attention :) He got a neat sandwich making game from Auntie Leah & Auntie Erica and he played with that for a while. Later he opened his presents and he had a garage from Grandpa Jeff and Heidi. He and Uncle Todd played with that for quite a while. Uncle Todd also showed Scotty how to drag his princesses up onto the top of the garage and throw them off…nice. And now, for some pictures:

Christmas Day Morning

In CategoryMy Life, Uncategorized

Santa came! Scotty slept in and I don’t think he really understands the whole concept of Santa. The night before we tried to tell him he had to go to sleep or Santa wouldn’t come and he didn’t care. He woke up Christmas morning and followed the candy trail (because Santa had a hole in his pocket) into the front room. He opened one present and told me he was too tired to open presents. He wanted to play with his airplane and ballpit from the night before. *sigh* Scott and I tried to convince him to open presents and he opened a few more. Next year? I’m not giving him as many books. Or if I do, I’m wrapping them together, not individually! The blocks were a hit. He LOVES the pattern blocks I got for him. Yay! Those are my favorite. After we finished opening and I cleaned up the mess, we got the ballpit out again and let him play. Scott went back to bed since he didn’t sleep well the night before. While Scotty played with his new stuff, I started tearing down the tree. I know, on Christmas. I felt so guilty, but this living room is way to small to have all this stuff. So I tore down the tree and started on the lights and other stuff…then Dana called. I’d lost track of time, we were supposed to leave at 10:30 and meet her at Mom’s at 11. Oops. We were only a little late. We opened Scotty’s train set from Grandma and Poppy over there, then headed over to Dad’s in Hobart for Christmas with them around 1. That will be another post, tons of pictures. Here are the pictures from Christmas morning here (not many, he was totally over it. I’m hoping next year will be a lot different!) and a few that I’ve stolen from Dana’s facebook page from Mom’s house:

Christmas Eve with the Seppi’s

Christmas Eve was busy for us! Scotty and I put together a schedule about two weeks ago and we cooked throughout the week and cleaned so we didn’t have too much left to do on the actual day. We spent Christmas Eve with the Seppi’s and it was a blast! Unfortunately cousin Tyler and Auntie Lisa were sick and didn’t make it. Uncle Brian, Grandpa Pumpkin and Jeanie were all here and we had way too much food! Scotty had a lot of fun entertaining everyone…he’s a lot like his dad in the role of host! We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!

*Scotty really got into opening gifts this year…even at his birthday he didn’t seem to understand that there was fun stuff in each gift! He’d open one and want to go play with it and ignore the rest!

Movie Review: Mamma Mia!

In CategoryMy Life, Uncategorized

I just had to share this one. I'm really late in watching it (it came out in 2008 and I am just now getting around to putting it on my Netflix list!). Scott didn't really want to see it (can you blame him?) so I planned to watch it myself. It's been sitting around for 3 days and I finally put it in last night before bed. Bad idea to watch this before bed. I absolutely loved it. In the first few minutes I was rolling my eyes and giggling. They have a feature so you can sing along, I went ahead and did that because I'm an absolute nerd. To my surprise, I didn't really need it. I didn't realize how many ABBA songs I knew! I got a kick out of it and was pumped by the time it was over...I had to pick up my book for an hour before I could get to sleep after I finished the movie. I told Scott I want this one for our DVD library and he laughed at me. He might even try to watch it with me before I return it. Scotty is being introduced to the joys of ABBA later when he wakes up. Yay for upbeat and fun music! And dancing spontaneously. That's always fun too :) So I rate this movie a 10 on the enjoyment factor. I thought the cast was great and it was cheesy and fun.

My New Year's Resolution

In CategoryMy Life, Uncategorized

I'm making it early, I think this every time I update my blog...I need to update my blog more often. I'm thinking I'll shoot for at least twice a month. I WAS going to say once a week, but that just won't happen. First, I don't take many pictures and I can only tell so many stories before people get bored. Second, I'm a little lazy. I admit it. I'm currently sitting on the couch with the laptop...while my desktop is about 5 feet away. Why am I doing this? Because it's comfy. I have the heating pad to keep me warm, the couch is nice and comfortable, my feet are up and I can watch the news while I type. At the desktop computer I have to sit up, I'm cold, the bench is not very comfy, it's drafty since I'm right next to the sliding glass door and my back is to the tv. I could keep going, but I'm sure you get it.

What's been happening since my last post...I'll go backwards. Yesterday (Sunday) Scotty and I went to Burien with Erica, Mom and Dana to see some 7 week old pitbull puppies. Scotty wasn't impressed at all. He was more interested in the dog toys and kept asking me A)Where's Molson? and B)Can we go now? I thought they were pretty cute, but I think lab puppies are cuter. Who doesn't? Heck, I think Molson is cuter than a 5 or 7 week old pitbull puppy and he's 5. And even cuter than Molson? Our old labs. Only because they were ours and they had such awesome personalities. When I first met Scott I was adamant that we get a Doberman Pinscher at some point because that's what I grew up with and I loved them. Now? I'm the one telling him that we'll always have labs, probably never a doberman. It'll be a while before we get another dog though. Scott and I aren't ready, I don't think Scotty is either. He plays with Molson and has a blast...but when he's done, he's done. He IS 2, but he wasn't like that with Tex. I think we'll wait until at least Scotty is potty trained before we think about a puppy.

And today is December 14th...6 years ago today, Scott proposed to me at Snoqualmie Falls! He rolled his eyes when I told him "Happy Anniversary of the day you proposed". It's a day that sticks in my head. We've been married for 5 years now, together almost 7. It's crazy how quickly the time flies.

Scotty has been a handful lately, especially with the excitement of Molson. We had the chance to drop him off at my mom's for a slumber party last weekend, but we had other plans (that ended up getting cancelled). In all honesty, I prefer having the little stinker at home. And? He stays on schedule and doesn't need re-training. It's much easier. On Saturday he woke up cranky and went into our room around noon or so and told me to go away so he could rest. I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing. This is the child that hates to take a nap. He hates quiet time. We've pretty much given up naps. He goes to bed at 7 when he skips his nap...around 9 or so when he takes one. So Scott and I are in agreement that Scotty can give up his nap...but he needs some quiet time (and so does Mama!) So far it's working out well for all involved.

Today Scotty and I followed Scott's dad down to the Auto Electric place to drop off Scott's truck. Yay! Scott bought his Buick before we had Scotty and has been planning to sell the truck ever since. Unfortunately there's a problem with the electrical system and the battery. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, but Scott wanted it fixed before we sold it. He doesn't have much free time right now, so Dick is helping us get some things done around here. It's a big help AND Scotty gets to see "Grandpa Pumpkin".

Christmas is almost here! I had to re-decorate the tree the other night. When Scott and Scotty were doing the bedtime routine (and after I'd done my cleanup the kitchen and tidy the house routine) I pulled all the ornaments and garland off the tree. There was a big open spot and it had been driving me nuts for weeks. I couldn't bend the branches (it's a fake tree) to fill the spot, so I finally decided to turn it so that spot is to the wall. Not that big of a deal, shouldn't take too long. Well, since I had everything off already, I decided to fix it and make it right. This is the last year I ask Scotty which ornaments we should use. I can't see the green ones on the tree and the red are too dull. So we now have purple and white. It looks much better. Almost all the presents are wrapped. I had hidden some blocks in our closet and found them today while putting laundry away, so I need to wrap those and I'm done. Tomorrow we're heading to the store to start our Christmas dinner shopping. Exciting!

I can't think of anything else to add, so I'll close with a picture of Scotty coloring smiley faces:

Eek, December snuck up on me!

In CategoryMy Life, Uncategorized
BySandy

I just looked and it’s been almost a month since the last post! Now you’d think I’d have a lot of pictures and updates, wouldn’t you? Truth is, I don’t. Lots going on in preparation for Christmas, but not anything really exciting. Few big things happening at our house right now:

*Scotty decided to give me a break and potty train. He went a whole day going in the potty except at nap. I didn’t want to take any chances at nap time. The little stinker waited until naptime to go #2, but he did awesome with going pee on the potty. I finally caved and did what my mom did when we were little…I put the potty right in the entry so he could see we weren’t doing fun stuff without him while he was in the bathroom.

*Scott’s finally made the decision to sell the tools. It’s been years since he’s been able to use them (and the last time was a quick project, followed by home improvement things!). I spent nap time one day last week pulling everything out and rearranging the garage…now we need to clean them really well, catalog everything and put an ad up on Craigslist.

*Scotty’s in parrot mode lately. Cousin Tyler came over shortly before Thanksgiving and said “Car”…it sounds like “Cock”. Scotty repeated it, everyone laughed, now he won’t stop. It’s quite embarrassing when we’re in public! His newest from last night is “Girls don’t play hockey” after watching Caillou with Dad. Scott made a smart-aleck comment and it stuck. Oops.

*Brian and Lisa are going on vacation on Monday and we get to keep Molson for a week! We’re all super excited about this. We miss having a dog around, but we don’t want to get an adult/grown dog, we want a puppy. And right now? We don’t have the time or energy for a puppy. So borrowing Molson is going to be a treat since it’ll be a while before we get another one of our own!

That’s really about it. We’re so exciting :) We don’t even have many pictures to share! Scotty is so darned fast and doesn’t sit still, I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t even bother grabbing the camera these days. Anyhoo, here’s what we did manage to catch:
