Suddenly Sandy

I’m just horrible about updating! Unfortunately since putting Vista on the laptop, it’s not much more than an expensive paperweight. It runs really slow and shuts down at odd times. Drives me nuts. SO…I’m back at the desktop, but I didn’t have my blog program on this computer. I uploaded it yesterday, pulled a bunch of pictures off the camera, and here we are!

Scott has about 2 weeks left at Microsoft…we’re all excited for that! Hopefully things will go well with the business and he can start working from home again. It’ll be an adjustment, but also more convenient!

Scotty went to a birthday party last weekend with Auntie Eca for Burke (aka “Burger”) and got bit by a 1 year old. My child screamed and cried, but he didn’t hit. Yay! Came home on a sugar high and thinks candy necklaces are AWESOME. He shoved the whole thing, string and all, into his mouth and just about swallowed it. Woops.

Scott’s 40th birthday has passed us by…we had Grandpa Pumpkin over for supper. Homemade manicotti, chocolate cake with a buttercream frosting and raspberry in the middle. Yum! Scotty and I even went to the store and picked up some balloons for Scott since we aren’t doing birthday gifts. I tried to point him toward the adult balloons (plain Happy Birthday or Happy 40th!) and we came home with…Batman. Oh well, he’s the only one playing with the balloons now and I figured that’s what would happen. It’s the thought that counts, right?

Scotty’s been a bit of a pill lately. His bottom 2-year molars finally came through, and the top 2 are almost through. Needless to say, he’s been a bit cranky. We’re also working on a bedtime routine. Scott and I have been horrible about having an actual routine, and Scotty staying up till 11 just isn’t cool. He IS in his room by 8, but he gets loud when he stays up playing!

Next weekend is Salmon Days, so super excited for that!

For those of you we haven’t already told, Scotty saw the “Charlie Bit Me” video last week and has been copying it ever since. We have some video of it where you can’t really hear him, but I let him watch the video again today and video taped him. So here it is for your enjoyment :

So I don't have any pictures to share this time, which is why it's taken me a while to update. I tend to stock up on pictures and catch up all at once. We haven't been too busy since the zoo. Scotty spent the last weekend of August at Grandma & Poppy's. Scott and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary that weekend, though our actual anniversary was the 1st of September. We're so exciting, we hung out at home and enjoyed the quiet and the ability to chat without being interrupted! I can't believe it's been 5 years already. It doesn't seem that long, but when we look back, SO much has happened in the past 5 years. Scott was laid off at Microsoft on our wedding day 5 years ago...he started up a business in the mortgage industry and did great with that until it more or less dried up almost overnight. He's back at it again now and looking forward to hitting it hard once his MS contract is up. We had Scotty, moved from Duvall and went through the stress of selling a house with a toddler and a dog. We lost both Cody and Tex within a year of each other. And we're now in Bellevue and loving it and looking forward to what the next 5 years will bring! For 5 years, we've done amazingly well with all the stress we've had to deal with! Hopefully it'll get a little easier and less stressful though!

Scotty is doing amazingly well. He's currently sitting in his room hitting the wall and screaming "mom" because he doesn't want to go to bed. Going to bed for this kid is a recurring battle. He's a night owl like his dad. And waking him up? Let's just say that we're in trouble when school starts. He's a bit of a cranky-pants when he wakes up before he's ready. He's learning new things every day though and he's hilarious (and knows it). His newest thing is walking around mimicking the "Charlie Bit Me" video. I have a short one on video, but I'm going to try to get a better one. It's hilarious. I'm a little bummed that he doesn't dance anymore. Apparently he's gotten old enough to be embarassed. He has NOTHING to worry about with me...I'm the worst dancer ever, but even watching me make a fool of myself doesn't get him up and dancing.

We're all enjoying this cool weather. I love the rain. I guess it's a good thing we live in the Pacific Northwest, huh? I've had my fall wreath up for a little while now, Scotty and I even pulled our fall decor out and put up Halloween lights. I love it! I'm looking forward to Christmas the most though...I think Scotty is going to have a blast!

We've had a ton of birthdays the last two months, but we're finally slowing down. Scott's 40th is on the 17th. I've already promised to make him a special cake like I did for my birthday, but without the fondant. Hopefully it turns out well! And since he never reads the blog, I can also say that I plan to make Manicotti for supper. Or at least I hope to do so. It's one of his favorites.

Well, that's about it for now. As I said, we're REALLY exciting I could go on for hours about Scotty and all his accomplishments, but I'm sure that would start to get boring. I'll try to get some pictures of him in his awesome Batman and Superman PJ's with the capes and some video of him doing "Charlie Bit Me" too.
